Currently under construction in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the St Gothard tunnel is a real technologic challenge: with its 57km length, it is the longer tunnel ever built in the world. It will enable Switzerland to be part of the European high speed network, as travel time will be divided into two, connections between Zurich and Milan will be improved , and alpine roads will be relieved of 40 Million Tonnes of freight every year. More than 20 million people will benefit from this innovation which will bring closer than ever German Southern cities and Italian Northern industrial poles.

Everyday, more than 2600 people work on this 57km gallery, the conception of which has needed 30 years of preparation. The companies selected to participate to the challenge have been chosen on their reputation, sustainability and their ability to integrate a complicated project management. Adler’s assets , that lay on an unreached technology, enabled us to win the supplying of the concrete trains. A total of 23 cars, representing 1200 tonnes in charge, will be delivered by Adler for concreting the 57km of tunnel rail which means 260 m a day.
The St Gothard tunnel is not a first shot for Adler who has participated to the building of the Channel Tunnel, which was the biggest infrastructure project in Europe since it was dug 50 meters under the sea; and also the ongoing tunnel of the Eurostar in London
